What is janet peckinpaugh?

Janet Peckinpaugh is a former American television news anchor and reporter. She was born on December 11, 1948 in Indiana. Peckinpaugh started her broadcasting career in the early 1970s, working as a news reporter for several local television stations in the Midwest.

In 1978, Peckinpaugh became the first female news anchor in the state of Connecticut when she joined WFSB-TV in Hartford. She went on to work for various other television stations throughout her career, including stints at WNBC in New York City and WLNY-TV on Long Island.

Peckinpaugh ran for political office in 2003, challenging incumbent U.S. Representative Rob Simmons in Connecticut's 2nd congressional district. She ultimately lost the election, but continued to stay active in local politics and advocacy work.

In addition to her broadcasting career, Peckinpaugh has also written a memoir titled "Hostile Environment: One Woman's Battle with a Sexist Culture at ABC News." She is known for her pioneering work as a female journalist in a male-dominated industry and her advocacy for women's rights and gender equality.
